Can My Siamese Cat Eat Raw Chicken?

I met a cat parent who tried to get me to agree with the raw food diet earlier this year. She had three cats and fed them raw chicken and turkey. I have been wondering if it is safe ever since.

I have done more research on this, and I would love to tell you what I have found! Is it safe for our Siamese cats to eat raw chicken? What are the chances that bacteria and illness will not take place?

Your Siamese cat can eat raw chicken as long as it is fresh, free of salmonella, and unseasoned. Feed him raw or boiled chicken in moderation if you are sure it is clean and safe. The important thing about feeding your cat raw chicken is to be careful when preparing it.

I give my Siamese cats small amounts of raw chicken on occasion. Batman, my Siamese cat, enjoys eating boiled chicken breasts the most. I remove the bones and fat before serving.

My other cat, Robyn, enjoys chicken necks. I cut the chicken necks into small pieces so she can consume and enjoy them without hassle.

Keep reading as I explain everything you need to learn about feeding raw chicken. Also, learn the safe ways to prepare chicken for your Siamese cat below!

Is It Safe To Give My Cat Raw Chicken?

Many cat owners do not consider feeding their cats raw chicken. Some are apprehensive because they worry their pets will contract parasites or bacteria. Few owners avoid raw chicken since they think Siamese cats cannot eat uncooked meat.

Fresh raw chicken is an all-natural food. The feline digestive tract can handle it. Cats have short digestive tracts that allow them to move meat through their bodies. Also, they have potent stomach acids which help break down protein and kill bacteria.

Giving human-grade raw chicken is okay, provided it is fresh and salmonella-free. It is safe for your cat if you boil and freeze it and if it is free of garlic or onion seasoning.

It is fair to say that raw meat contains harmful pathogens which can make your cat sick if not prepared well. The best approach is to boil, freeze, or thaw the chicken before giving it to your cat.

What’s more, feeding Siamese cats boiled chicken has added health benefits for cats. This diet is gaining popularity these days.

Here are some advantages to feeding boiled chicken:

  • Boiled chicken is a tasty and filling cat treat.
  • It is nutritious and low in calories.
  • It helps increase your cat’s water consumption.
  • It makes your cat’s skin and coat healthier.
  • It helps increase bone strength and flexibility.
  • It aids digestion in your cat’s stomach.
  • It improves your cat’s dental health.

I feed Batman and Robyn boiled or baked chicken only. They should be able to enjoy the meat without me worrying.

I often boil chicken breast and neck pieces and give them to my cats. The boiled chicken pieces are tender and easy for Batman and Robyn to chew.

So far, so good! They think of it as a one-of-a-kind treat I give them on rare occasions.

How To Prepare Raw Chicken For A Siamese Cat?

Are you planning on giving your Siamese cat raw chicken? An important tip is to make the feeding as risk-free as possible.

1. Buy raw chicken from stores you know you can trust.

2. Consult the organics section when sourcing raw chicken.

3. Double-check to make sure that the raw chicken is still fresh.

4. Buy raw chicken intended for pets. It lowers the possibility of harmful bacteria and increases essential nutrients. These selections have undergone careful processing.

5. Place the raw chicken in the freezer. Leave it there for at least a week if you plan to feed your cat later. You can freeze it at 4 degrees or lower. This method kills bacteria and parasites almost as effectively as cooking.

6. Clean the surface areas where you will put the raw chicken as you prepare it to keep it from getting dirty.

7. Cut the raw chicken into pieces using a clean knife and on a clean surface. Take out any bones before serving.

8. Check the color inside after cutting it up. It should be pink rather than grayish.

9. Boil the meat if you’re looking for a safe way to feed your cat with homemade chicken. You can also bake or grill it for a fast and easy alternative.

10. Avoid using spices and condiments such as salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. They harm cats, so you should never use them to season raw chicken.

11. Feed the chicken to your cat as soon as it is ready. Do not wait too long. Bacteria can grow on aged, uncooked meat.

12. Give your cat no more food than he can finish in one sitting.

13. Remove any remaining chicken after feeding your cat. Be sure to discard any leftovers that have reached room temperature. Do not try to give it to your cat again.

14. Wash your cat’s bowl in hot, soapy water following his meal.

How Much Raw Chicken Should I Feed My Siamese Cat?

Feed your Siamese cat about 2%–3% of his weight. You can divide this amount into two or three meal options. The serving size depends on your cat’s metabolism and activity level.

It would help if you only give your Siamese cat small amounts of raw chicken. It is not a good idea to give too much raw chicken. Remember that raw meat contains some risks, so proceed with caution.

It is common for full-grown Siamese cats to weigh anywhere from 7 to 12 pounds. A typical female adult Siamese cat weighs between 7 to 10 lbs. A male Siamese cat usually weighs between 9 and 12 lbs.

The daily portion size should only be 2 to 3 percent of your cat’s current body weight. You have the option of dividing this amount into two to three meals. This suggestion applies if your cat leads an active lifestyle and has a healthy weight.

A general rule of thumb for feeding raw chicken to adult cats is as follows:

Current Body WeightDaily Portion Size
7 pounds1.4 – 2.1 ounces
8 pounds1.6 – 2.4 ounces
9 pounds1.8 – 2.7 ounces
10 pounds2 – 3 ounces
11 pounds2.2 – 3.3 ounces
12 pounds2.8 – 3.6 ounces

The daily percentage for less active, overweight, and senior cats is 1.5% of their weight in pounds. You can divide the part into two to three meals.

Is Raw Or Cooked Chicken Better For My Siamese Cat?

We can not ignore the fact that cats in the wild consume raw food. They did not cook or eat cat food at one point.

Modern cats kept as pets for a long time have changed metabolisms and tolerances. This is because they have become accustomed to commercial cat food. They may take longer to eat raw chicken because they are pickier about their food.

Some cats won’t mind raw chicken, but those with health concerns may need cooked chicken. Feeding cats raw chicken can risk exposing them to harmful pathogens. It is necessary to boil or freeze raw chicken before giving it to them.

Is It Okay To Feed My Siamese Cat Chicken Bones?

You can give raw bones to your cat, but you should never feed fully-cooked chicken bones.

Raw chicken bones become soft and flimsy when cooked. Your cat may suffer internal injuries from splintered bones. Also, chicken bones tend to break into tiny shards once cooked. These pieces can get stuck in the neck and stomach of your cat.

The raw bones must be appropriate, neither too small nor too large. The best chicken bones to feed are chicken necks, wings, and drumsticks.

It is best to feed your Siamese cat chicken bones the proper size to lessen the risk of injury.

Small bones are unsafe because your cat could swallow several of them and injure his throat. Large bones are dangerous because they might lodge in your cat’s stomach and get stuck there.

Is It Good For Siamese Cats To Eat Raw Meat?

Giving cats raw meat is okay if you handle and prepare the meat well. Cats have short, acidic stomachs, which means they can eat and digest raw meat.
